The count begins from 0. Values are added and subtracted according to the cards being dealt, to arrive at the running number.
Dividing the running number with the total decks used to play will give the player the true count.

The Red Seven
According to this method 2s-6 and red 7s are assigned 1, black7s and 8-9 are 0, similar to Hi-Lo, 10s-Ace are enumerated as -1.

10s-Aces fall under -1, 9s are all valued at -0.5, 2s and 7s are valued at 0.5, 3-4s and 6s get 1, and 5s are all 1.5.
Omega II
To be more detailed, this method has a separate counting system for the Aces.
- 2, 3, and 7s are valued at 1.
- 4, 5, and 6s are tallied as 2.
- 8s and Aces get a 0.
- 9s are counted as -1.
- All 10 value cards are totaled as -2.
