Blackjack, unlike other Casino games, is not played amongst the players. In fact, this game is played against the Casino’s croupier. The rules of the Blackjack cards are different for him than rest of the players too!
The Change

The Limitations
There is no strategy that can be applied to a dealer’s play. He has to follow the rules that are set by the Casino.
For example, according to certain Casino requirements, a dealer is supposed to draw a new card, if his hand total is below 17. Also, he can withdraw no more, if his cards add up to 17 or more.
The basic difference between a dealer and the player’s game come from the differing application of stand and hit.
Also, the dealer is the last to play his hand, after all, the players are through with their decisions.
The dealer also doesn’t make any bet. He can’t! He is responsible for handling the money transactions.

The steps leading to dealing the cards to the player are:
- Taking the required number of decks. This as per the rules of individual Casino could be any number between one to eight.
- Rearranging the cards.
- Asking the players to place their blind bets on the Blackjack table. The players can only increase the amount of their wager once they see their cards and a single card of the dealer.

Dealing Cards
Once all the bets are on the table, the dealer starts issuing cards to each player. The first card is issued to all the players and the dealer himself, face-up. The next one is dealt face-up too, except to the dealer. He gets a hole card!
Asking For More
Once the cards have been dealt, the croupier invites the players to make a further play. Based on their individual cards and the dealer’s visible cards, players decide their moves.
He then issues more cards or collects additional bets accordingly.
Win Or Loss
Once all additional moves have been made by the players, the dealer reveals his facing down the card.
That is the deciding factor for a player’s victory or defeat.
A win is declared in cases of:
- A Blackjack, i.e., a 10 and an un-split Ace.
- Natural Blackjack values more than a manufactured 21.
- No Blackjack or a total of 21 means that whosoever has the highest hand wins. The hand has to be lower than 21!
A loss is when:
- The hand goes bust, i.e., the cards total crosses 21.
- Some other player or the dealer has Blackjack or 21.
- Other player’s cards or the dealers are higher than self.
If the winning hand is achieved by more than one player, it is declared a push situation, and there is no win or loss then!
In the end, the dealer distributes the wins and collects the losses as per the result! And then the Blackjack cards are shuffled again for a new game!
